This book which I'm going to share with you here seemed to grab proper attention. It's almost like it’s on the right radar with not more and not fewer readers’ attention.

It’s “OUR DARK DUET” by V. E. Schwab.

Firstly the SYNOPSIS:

A girl Kate Harker survives with a different first name in a place called Prosperity, with just a bag that contains too few things to survive, a music player for she hates silence to the core, also hunts monsters regularly, and has no place to be called as home.

August Flynn, head of a troop that fights the dark and saves people with light. He lives in Verity, which is located exactly opposite Prosperity. With the help of his musical instruments(a Violin), he slays the tamed. He battles within and out with growing blood over his hands and a constant desire to feel like a human.

The two reunite six months post-separation, only to fight by each other's side. They face a girl who turns out to be a shadow, a monster who was once a father, and a demon that manipulates the mind.

REVIEW:

As I always say, it takes a couple of pages to get into the story, approximately a hundred. Then on, this book is a real smooth read.

Various elements were put together in this book, such as, friends with care, lost love return, unexpected tragedies, trust issues, and finally a cinematic action feel.

A huge action movie fan would surely love this book for it makes us feel every strike drawn in the battle.

The lead characters, fight with the demons, the one visible to the naked eye and the one in their head. While they keep battling in their own heads, trying to stay composed and not give in, there comes a moment when they lose to the inner monster and fall in. This journey of theirs balancing, managing, battling for both their loved ones and themselves would surely keep one on edge till the end.

All in all, if this book is approached with little expectations, it wouldn’t let you down. However, few characters, who were described as near and dear ones in the initial part of the story, weren’t brought up anywhere again and that disappointed me. If you are a regular reader, you can easily guess few twists, but the writer gets back with the unpredicted ones and that makes it worth reading.

My rating: 3.5/5

Hope you like my review.
